HealthPath Foundation of Ohio is thrilled to announce the addition of two outstanding individuals to our board of directors. Their unique skills, experiences, and perspectives will be invaluable as we continue our mission to help Ohioans reach their fullest health potential. Please join us in giving them a warm welcome!
Dr. Raphael Allen
Dr. Raphael Allen, a Detroit, MI native moved to Yellow Springs, OH after being adopted at the age of 16. He attended Wittenberg University out of high school where he played football and ran track. Later, transferred to Wright State University where he obtained a double Bachelor's and Master’s degree in Special Education, he would go on to receive a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Denver. Dr. Allen currently works for the Springfield Foundation as the Director of Community Outreach and Engagement. In addition to his work, he serves on several coalitions and boards throughout Clark County, Ohio. In his spare time, he enjoys volunteering weekly at the Springfield Cancer Center and the Dayton Children’s Hospital as well as spending time mentoring young men, helping them to develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in life.
By staying consistent in being connected and involved in the community, he hopes to continue pursuing his passions of not only building up and supporting the underserved and disadvantaged populations but doing what he loves the most, which is youth outreach.
Kate Haralson
The daughter of a statistician and a journalist, Kate was raised in Cincinnati, OH in an academic and inquisitive household. She took a six-year sojourn to Germany and Idaho for some studying and lots of travel and food before returning to serve and work in her home community. After starting her career in social service delivery with victims of interpersonal violence and pregnant and postpartum people, she transitioned to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, where she spent many years administering federally funded research studies and state-funded quality improvement projects. Through these projects, she spent time with children and adults who experienced childhood maltreatment, teenagers recovering from bariatric surgery, pregnant people at risk for preterm birth, and new parents with infants dependent on narcotics. After attaining her Master of Public Health from the University of Minnesota, she joined the team at The Health Collaborative to support and lead cross-system collaborative efforts to improve health care delivery and outcomes in the tri-state area through primary care innovation, health-related social needs mitigation, data transparency and interoperability, quality improvement, and clinical education. Most recently, she implemented a new managed Medicaid plan for Humana in the state of Ohio, serving as their Director of Population Health and executing the state’s strategy to improve the health and well-being of all Medicaid members.
She remains dedicated to equity and social justice, interrogating healthcare systems that create and perpetuate disparities in access and outcomes. She has alter-egos as a musician and an endurance athlete, and lives with her partner, two children, and Betty, a large, lazy, loving rescue pup of unknown age and origin.
Looking Ahead
As we look to the future, the addition of these two exceptional leaders strengthens our capacity to respond to Ohio’s most pressing health needs. Their fresh perspectives and deep expertise will help us navigate new opportunities and challenges with confidence.
We’re excited for what’s to come and grateful for the dedication of all our board members. Together, we will continue to make meaningful strides toward our vision that all Ohioans, regardless of status, wealth, or circumstances, will have the ongoing opportunity to achieve their fullest health potential.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Allen and Kate to the team! We look forward to the great work we’ll accomplish together.
